Overview

Overview

The Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Pro Max is the high-capacity step up from the U7 Pro — a ceiling-mounted tri-band Wi-Fi 7 access point with 8 spatial streams, a dedicated spectral scanning engine, and 4×4 MU-MIMO on 5 GHz. It delivers 15.1 Gbps aggregate throughput across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz with support for 500+ concurrent clients and 160 m² (1,750 ft²) of coverage.

The dedicated spectral scanning engine continuously monitors the RF environment across all bands — detecting and avoiding interference without impacting data radio performance. This makes the U7 Pro Max particularly well suited to environments with high wireless density, legacy device congestion, or challenging RF conditions. Powered over a single Cat6 cable via PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) — no separate power supply required.

Key highlights

  • Dedicated spectral scanning engine — monitors RF without impacting data throughput
  • 8 spatial streams — 4×4 MU-MIMO on 5 GHz, 2×2 on 6 GHz and 2.4 GHz
  • 500+ concurrent clients across 1,750 ft²
  • 15.1 Gbps aggregate throughput across tri-band Wi-Fi 7
  • 2.5 GbE uplink — wired backbone matches wireless throughput
  • Single Cat6 cable carries power and data via PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at)
  • WPA3 enterprise encryption, PPSK, and RadSec support
  • NDAA compliant, CE/FCC/IC certified

Recommended for

  • High-density offices — 500+ clients and 4×4 5 GHz handle demanding enterprise environments with ease
  • Education campuses — dedicated spectral scanner avoids interference from adjacent APs and legacy devices
  • Retail & hospitality — 1,750 ft² coverage with captive portal, guest isolation, and seamless roaming
  • Conference & event venues — handles surge client density without performance degradation

Performance

Aggregate throughput

The U7 Pro Max improves on the U7 Pro with a 4×4 MU-MIMO 5 GHz radio delivering 8.6 Gbps — nearly triple the 5 GHz throughput of the U7 Pro’s 2×2 radio. Combined with the 6 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, total aggregate throughput reaches 15.1 Gbps across three simultaneous radios.

Software

Managed by UniFi Network

The UniFi U7 Pro Max is fully managed through the UniFi Network application — Ubiquiti’s centralised platform for configuring, monitoring, and scaling enterprise wireless networks. Available as a self-hosted controller or via UniFi Cloud, with no per-device licensing fees and full multi-site management from a single interface.

Core capabilities

  • Spectral scanning management — the UniFi dashboard surfaces real-time RF environment data from the dedicated scanning engine, making interference identification and channel optimisation straightforward.
  • Centralised multi-site management — one controller manages multiple sites, each with its own monitoring, config, and admin accounts.
  • Remote firmware updates — push updates to all access points without on-site access.
  • Guest hotspot & captive portal — custom-branded portals with voucher or password auth plus Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0).
  • Per-user speed limiting — upload/download caps per user or SSID for fair bandwidth management.
  • WiFi schedules — define time-based wireless access policies per SSID.

Requirements

UniFi Network Version 8.2.93 or later
Hosting Self-hosted or UniFi Cloud
