Overview
The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 24 is a fully managed 24-port Layer 2 Gigabit switch built for growing networks that need reliable, intelligent switching for wired devices. With 24 × Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports and 2 × 1G SFP uplink ports, it delivers 52 Gbps switching capacity and 26 Gbps non-blocking throughput in a compact 1U rack-mount form factor just 200mm deep.
Managed centrally through the UniFi Network application, it supports VLAN configuration, port mirroring, 802.1X access control, IGMP snooping, and the full UniFi Layer 2 feature set — all from the same interface used to manage UniFi access points and gateways. No PoE output on any port. NDAA compliant, CE/FCC/IC certified.

Deployment
Network topology
The USW-24 requires a DHCP-enabled network to obtain an IP address at first power-on. Devices connected to the switch will also receive IP addresses automatically from the DHCP server on the network. The switch is then discovered and adopted by the UniFi Network controller — either a self-hosted controller on a PC, Linux, or Mac, or via UniFi Cloud.
Deployment scenarios
- Access layer switch — connects wired workstations, servers, printers, and VoIP phones across a floor or department
- Server room backbone — 2 × 1G SFP uplinks connect to a higher-tier switch or aggregation layer via fibre or copper SFP modules
- Mixed UniFi deployment — sits alongside UniFi PoE switches and APs, all managed from a single UniFi Network controller
Cabling note
For structured cabling runs, Ubiquiti TOUGHCable (outdoor-rated shielded Cat5e/Cat6 with integrated ESD drain wire) is recommended for any exposed or outdoor cable routing to protect connected equipment from electrostatic discharge damage.

Software
Managed by UniFi Network
The USW-24 is fully managed through the UniFi Network application — the same centralised platform used across all UniFi access points, gateways, and switches. Configure port profiles, VLANs, access control, and monitoring from a single interface with no per-device licensing fees. The controller can be self-hosted on a PC, Mac, or Linux machine, or deployed via UniFi Cloud.
Core management capabilities
- Port management — configure speed, VLAN assignment, operation mode (switching, mirroring, or aggregate), and port profiles per port.
- VLAN configuration — create and manage VLANs and 802.1Q tagging for network segmentation across all ports.
- Multi-site management — one controller manages multiple distributed deployments, each logically separated with its own config, maps, and admin accounts.
- Remote monitoring — real-time port statistics and switch health visible from anywhere via UniFi Cloud.
