Overview
The Ubiquiti UniFi Mesh Antenna (UMA-D) is an optional accessory for the UniFi AP AC Mesh (UAP-AC-M) that replaces the standard removable omni antennas with a high-gain directional dual-band antenna. Where the standard omni antennas broadcast equally in all directions, the UMA-D focuses signal into a defined sector — delivering 15 dBi gain on 5 GHz with a 45° beamwidth and 10 dBi on 2.4 GHz with a 90° beamwidth. This concentrated pattern extends usable range, improves link quality between mesh APs, and reduces interference from outside the coverage sector.
The UMA-D connects to the UAP-AC-M via two RP-SMA connectors and mounts on a wall or pole using a 3-axis ball joint that provides precise azimuth, elevation, and orientation adjustment. The UV-stabilised plastic enclosure is rated for indoor and outdoor use, making it suitable for permanent outdoor mesh deployments where coverage needs to be shaped and directed.
Key highlights
- 15 dBi gain on 5 GHz — significantly higher than the standard 4 dBi omni antenna
- 10 dBi gain on 2.4 GHz — higher than the standard 3 dBi omni antenna
- 45° beamwidth on 5 GHz for focused long-range directional coverage
- 90° beamwidth on 2.4 GHz for semi-directional sector coverage
- 3-axis ball joint mount — adjustable in azimuth, elevation, and orientation
- 2 × RP-SMA connectors — direct replacement for UAP-AC-M omni antennas
- UV-stabilised plastic enclosure — indoor and outdoor rated
- Wall and pole mount hardware included
- Available in single- and five-packs
Recommended for
- Point-to-point mesh links — pair two UAP-AC-M units each fitted with a UMA-D to create a high-gain directional mesh backhaul between buildings or across open spaces
- Sector coverage — replace omni antennas with UMA-D to create defined coverage zones in campuses, stadiums, and large outdoor venues
- Range extension — the 15 dBi 5 GHz gain dramatically extends mesh link distance compared to the standard 4 dBi omni
- Interference reduction — focused beamwidth minimises co-channel interference from sources outside the coverage sector
