Overview

Overview

The Ubiquiti UniFi nanoHD is a compact 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO access point that combines high-performance wireless with an ultra-small form factor — making it ideal for environments where performance and discreet aesthetics both matter. At just 160 × 160 × 32.65mm, it is the smallest high-density AP in the UniFi range, yet delivers 4×4 MU-MIMO on 5 GHz (1,733 Mbps), Wave 2 multi-user technology, and 8 BSSIDs per radio in a package that runs on standard 802.3af PoE at just 10.5W.

This 3-pack contains three nanoHD access points — ideal for deploying across multiple rooms, floors, or zones with consistent enterprise performance and centralised management through the UniFi Network application. Multi-packs do not include PoE adapters; we recommend powering via a UniFi PoE switch.

Technology

802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO

The nanoHD uses 802.11ac Wave 2 MU-MIMO technology — unlike Wave 1 APs which communicate with only one client at a time, a Wave 2 AP can simultaneously serve multiple clients. This significantly increases multi-user throughput and overall wireless experience in environments with many connected devices.

Assuming the same conditions, a Wave 2 radio provides up to 75% improvement over a Wave 1 radio — increasing wireless performance and allowing more clients to connect at the same performance level.

4×4 spatial streams on 5 GHz

At any single time, the nanoHD’s 4×4 Wave 2 radio can simultaneously communicate with:

  • Four 1×1 MU-MIMO clients
  • Two 2×2 MU-MIMO clients
  • One 2×2 client and two 1×1 clients
  • One 3×3 client and one 1×1 client

SU-MIMO clients connecting to the nanoHD also benefit from the Wave 2 hardware, gaining approximately 10–20% greater performance compared to a Wave 1 AP.

Beamforming

The nanoHD uses beamforming to direct the wireless signal toward connected clients rather than broadcasting equally in all directions — improving signal strength, throughput, and effective range for each connected device.
