Overview

Overview

The Ubiquiti UniFi U7 Long-Range is a compact ceiling-mounted Wi-Fi 7 access point designed to cover more area per AP — making it ideal for environments where wider coverage from fewer access points matters more than extreme throughput. With 3×3 MU-MIMO on 5 GHz and high-gain antennas, it extends reliable Wi-Fi 7 signal across 160 m² (1,750 ft²) with 300+ concurrent clients on just 14W of standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af).

Unlike the rest of the U7 Pro range, the U7 LR is dual-band — covering 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz without a 6 GHz radio. This makes it well suited to environments with a mix of modern and older client devices, where the 2.4 GHz band is still needed for IoT, legacy hardware, and extended range coverage. Its compact ⌀175.7mm form factor and plastic mounting plate make it easy and discreet to install.

Key highlights

  • Extended range — 1,750 ft² coverage from a compact ⌀175.7mm form factor
  • 3×3 MU-MIMO on 5 GHz for long-range high-throughput coverage
  • Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af) at just 14W — works with any PoE switch
  • 5 spatial streams across dual-band (5 GHz + 2.4 GHz)
  • 300+ concurrent clients
  • 2.5 GbE uplink — backbone keeps pace with wireless throughput
  • Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) on both bands
  • NDAA compliant, CE/FCC/IC/SRRC certified

Recommended for

  • Large open spaces — warehouses, halls, sports facilities where a single AP needs to cover maximum area
  • Mixed device environments — dual-band covers both modern Wi-Fi 7 clients and legacy 2.4 GHz devices simultaneously
  • PoE-constrained networks — 14W compatibility with standard 802.3af PoE switches avoids needing PoE+ or PoE++ infrastructure
  • Discreet installations — compact form factor with a lightweight plastic mounting plate for easy deployment

Performance

Aggregate throughput

The U7 Long-Range is a dual-band AP — 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz only, no 6 GHz radio. The 3×3 MU-MIMO 5 GHz radio delivers 4.3 Gbps at BW160, with high-gain antennas that extend usable range beyond typical 2×2 designs. The 2.4 GHz radio provides coverage and compatibility for legacy devices and IoT hardware.

Software

Managed by UniFi Network

The UniFi U7 Long-Range is fully managed through the UniFi Network application — Ubiquiti’s centralised platform for configuring, monitoring, and scaling wireless networks. Available as a self-hosted controller or via UniFi Cloud, with no per-device licensing fees and full multi-site management from a single interface.

Core capabilities

  • Centralised multi-site management — one controller manages multiple sites, each with its own monitoring, config, and admin accounts.
  • Remote firmware updates — push updates to all access points without on-site access.
  • Guest hotspot & captive portal — custom-branded portals with voucher, payment, or password auth plus Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0).
  • Per-user speed limiting — upload/download caps per user or SSID for fair bandwidth management.
  • WiFi schedules — define time-based wireless access policies per SSID.
  • Network & VLAN configuration — per-SSID VLANs and dynamic RADIUS-assigned VLANs for network segmentation.
